Ooohkay. I presumed as it was there, it was functional. Play more is the 'fix' :)

I was interested in the game, but I was also interested in how OHR fared as a commercial game engine when stretched beyond common RPG functionality, and it's been informative. I read in an interview you thought OHR was an engine where you thought you could reliably finish games. Did making Katja's Abyss go reasonably smoothly for you, or did you spend a lot of time seeking  workarounds (as you mentioned) just to get the game to function as planned?

Thanks for the speedy reply.

I'm using F2/F3 to do the save/load (couldn't see where else I could in the menus, and the game warns that all progress is lost if I quit), selecting 'yes'.

 I moved the first uninstall/reinstall onto my desktop in case it was permissions, as I couldn't see a save folder in programs(x86), which did result in a save folder,  but with the reported behaviour. I've tried loading on the start screen and also in-game, same result.

Also tried copying the rpg to my ohrrpgce kaleidophone folder an ran it there (loaded into game.exe) - same error. If I delete the saves folder, when saving a game from fresh, the 2 files generated are 2.rsav and quick0.rsav.

Hope this helps - have been enjoying playing the game.

Win 11(64) - saves are not working. When loading a quick save I get a random map area  and unit graphics, then after a few seconds a 'no more functioning refineries. Retreating sector.' message. Dismissing this goes back to the start screen. g_debug shows:

9.8    Loadgame requested; resetgame

 9.8  Loading save slot quick0

 9.8  loadgame: 0 is special non-normal slot, skipping update of lastsaveslot

 9.9  ! Scripterr(5): postload -> reloadmapdata: slicechild: invalid slice handle 0

 9.9  ! Scripterr(5): postload -> reloadmapdata -> getelement: slicechild: invalid slice handle 0

and then many hundreds more Scripterr(5) lines

Have uninstalled, reinstalled, moved folder etc.

Game plays ok, but obviously not very satisfactory to start from scratch every time.

I'm really enjoying exploring OHRRPGCE, but find it odd that the plotscripting is outside of the Custom program, considering it's just editing text. I like the fact you can do so much in a straight DOS-alike environment, and having to leave it to use a code editor beaks the spell somewhat. If you stuck a simple OPL3 tracker in there it'd literally be my dream environment!

Cheers, much appreciated!

Nice - what did you use to program the MS-DOS version?

Played with a huge smile, a perfect artform in every respect IMHO, well done :)
