The Mac/OSX version isn't working for me. It downloads fine but won't play when I hit "launch" in Itch, nor when I go directly to the folder and try opening it.
On itch, hitting "Launch" sometimes throws the error "JSON-RPC conversation cancelled"; other times it just says "running" as if it opened successfully but the game never opens.
Opening it directly (by going into the folder where it's kept and double clicking), I get the message "You can't open the application "heavensbelow" because it may be damaged or incomplete."
Has anyone else had an issue like this? Is there an easy fix?
First off, there's a lot of beauty in this game, and I understand what it's like to spend months creating something and putting your everything into it. I have a lot of respect for the creator in making this world.
I gotta be honest though... this game is rough. The description says to expect about 45 min of gameplay. Of that, nearly 10 min is spent on the intro... not interactive and no premise is set. It's just random imagery that moves slowly and goes on forever.
Then you finally get to the game and spend the next 3 minutes walking in a straight line along a pier. There is only one way to go.
"Only one way to go" would sum up most of my experience, tbh. It's an exploration game (which is a genre I love), but it's mostly following a predetermined path — with few branches or choices, and nothing to find, look for, unravel or accomplish. You just walk forward.
It's a beautiful setting but, unfortunately, nothing to really explore or do.
