Well thanks for playing! And yeah sorry you can only find gat in the game assets and pac-man mini game atm ;D.
The thing is, GGGirls is supposed to be a simple jam project. I thought it would be easy because I can reference on my other projects.
But I didn't realize it's still impossible to make a game with 24K words, 40 maps in 30 days until the last week of game jam XD. I end up throwing off 50% content to make the first-half playable.
Tactical weapons (including gat) are planned to be optinal solutions for monster puzzles, just like you can use stun grenade against eyes, or call Jing to shoot the cat. Thanks for the review! I was planning to make a much longer progress, and provided more than 1 solution for most monster puzzles to make the game funnier. So players still have a lot to do even after they get knocked out at the very beginning.
However, I miscalculated my working efficiency. So just like you said, since the first level makes 80% content for the jam version, it's much wiser to make it a linear game. I'll tweak this part on the next upload, prabably by May 6 to improve the experience!
Due to time constraint, there're still bugs that may disturb your experience. This guide will lead help experiencing the complete playthrough.
Standard Route
- Obtain the battery in the classroom. After completing the initial investigation, choose "Urban Legend."
- After leaving the starting classroom, go right to the Central Area.
- Examine the Entity Hole on the north side of the first corner in the Central Area. Do not run when approaching.
- Check the Entity Stare in the east of the Central Area. Do not go deep into the corridor.
- Examine the Entity Hole again and watch it go downstairs. Creep upstairs to reach Floor 1.
- Go to the west of Floor 1 and catch the Fish Entity 3 times. The Fish will eventually escape through the vent.
- In the west of Floor 1, find Key 1 in the first drawer on the right side of the bed. Use it to open two white metal boxes and obtain Key 2.
- Go to the east of Floor 1 and spot the Cat Entity. Chase the cat clockwise for 3 laps and obtain the alarm clock at the top.
- Return to the west corridor of the starting classroom to obtain the Fish Entity.
- Use Key 2 to open the classroom door next to the starting classroom.
- Obtain a battery, solve the box-pushing puzzle (first step: push the bottom chair to the far left), and get the Gear Box.
- Install the battery in the alarm clock and use it in the Stare Corridor (equip and press confirm).
- After using the alarm clock, return to the Stare Corridor and get the Gear Box at the end.
- Go back to the Central Area, go downstairs, meet Xiao Jing, and enter the Safe Room.
- Unlock gear in the top-left corner of the Safe Room to obtain a Stun Grenade.
- Go to the Cat Entity’s location and use the Stun Grenade (equip and press confirm).
- Capture the Cat Entity, return to the Safe Room, and the demo ends. (If caught by the monster in C1, enter the imperfect route, which can only be cleared by calling Xiao Jing to eliminate the Cat Entity)
So we can use commissioned plugins created before the jam, then what about commissioned assets like art and sounds?
I have some quite good art assets made for my original worldview, and Ive started creating game demo a while ago. But the demo is far from complete and doesn't fit the theme. Is that ok for me to participate with a new game project made by those ready made assets?
