Thank you for the comment Linus! Absolutely our new mechanic is still in its early stages, so we are open to suggestions and will tweak the system as we go. :) I agree that it can be a bit overwhelming to new players, so we may very well stagger the introduction to new statuses, and perhaps simplify the ingredients overall!

Not going to lie, I did get a little addicted to this gameplay! :D Moving the ball around was intuitive and it was fun trying to wrangle it under control. I also liked the progression system of collecting enough coins to open the next gate - it added an element of choice, as I could ignore some coins in favour of others. After a few attempts, I made it to the end - the last level was a satisfying finale!
I thought this was a great, easy-to-pick-up casual game. If you continue to work on this, I would love to see extra obstacles added in!
Oh man, I loved playing this game even in its earlier iteration - it's amazing to see it get updated with even more polish and lovely art! The quirky humour and branching paths are as fun as ever, and it's great to see fresh, charming personality through the new art style. The inclusion of a quote at the start of the game is a nice little touch that I noticed too - helps to set the scene each playthrough!
This is already shaping up to be a stellar visual novel - I can't wait to play the full release.
This was incredibly impressive for being made within a month! The introduction was clever and the voice-over narration was a pleasant surprise that drew me right into the game. I adored the writing - fun, silly, with oodles of charm. The art style and animations are also lovely! Rosco is an adorable little protagonist.
I was especially taken by the variety of mechanics and the way they are gradually introduced. They add layers of complexity and - most importantly - FUN to the gameplay. The puzzles were challenging while not being too frustrating - some of them definitely had me stumped for a while!
Enjoyed this game immensely!
The vibrant aesthetic of the game drew me in, and the gameplay was great fun once I got the hang of it! Loved the different types of enemies that popped up, with their different behaviours and designs. I also found joy in exploring and stumbling across secrets (eg the keyhole), blueprints, and new biomes. Making the player click at the right time when using tools made the experience more engaging too, as it forces the player to focus and makes it less of an idle task.
It took me a while to work out what I was doing, and how to do it, so I would recommend clarifying a few things:
1. I didn't realise that I needed to pick up the stone and wood on the ground at first, and that's essential for harvesting more materials, crafting, and progressing. It would be great to highlight those materials more obviously to go, "Look, player! Pick these up!"
2. From the gear icon, I thought that pressing Q would bring me to a Settings menu, but instead it brought me to a separate crafting screen. I think the icons for the crafting screens could be clearer to indicate that one is for crafting tools/weapons, and the other is for building things in the world.
3. Until I watched Zackavelli's stream, I didn't know I was meant to build blocks around the fire to protect it. Definitely emphasise this!
4. I claimed various bounty rewards, but wasn't sure what they did. It might help to have a tooltip or some kind of description to explain them.
Overall, I think this is a promising survival game, and I hope you keep working on it!
I found myself immersed in the poignant, poetic writing. I would love to hear it voiced, if you ever come back to add to this project. You built up the atmosphere skillfully through the sound design and camera panning, and captured through words the emotion of being lost to a painful memory. I adored the ending, where the uplifting music fades in and hope shines through!
A thoughtful and touching experience.
Murdered by rubber duck - what a way to go hahaha!! I loved the witty, fun-filled writing, and the fantastic art. That title/logo caught my eye immediately!
Aristotle is the perfect partner in crime too - I was charmed by his sass and attitude, skilfully portrayed by the voice actor! The grading system was also a clever touch - eventually I got that "S" after playing a few times. ;)
All in all, a hilarious and high-quality micro VN!
Ooooooh my heart aches for both Ziri and Amelia ;-; Ziri for feeling like she's lost her chance at her dream, having it crushed just when she'd dared to hope. And Amelia for not realising the consequence of a careless moment until it was too late. I think a lot of us can relate to both of these fears, and the twist at the end really hit home for me.
The voice acting was brilliant and brought those raw emotions to life, and the wistful music is a beautiful touch. Love the art, the presentation, the writing! It was also very cool to see accessibility options included - a thoughtful and inclusive addition.
Superb! The creativity and mystery are outstanding. All the elements - the art, sound, and writing - are fantastic each in their own right, but united, they build an exquisitely unsettling yet intriguing world. The different endings also each had their own unique twist and impact - I managed to find 4 out of the 5! Had a lot of fun playing this. :)
Such a beautiful piece of art!! :') I'll be honest - I got blocked off from the kiss the first couple times I played through and was internally screaming, so I came to the comments for the answer haha! (Got it in the end, woo!)
Gosh, I LOVED the writing - so poetic, tender, and sweet. The art and GUI is absolutely stunning, and the use of the Hand gauge bar was super clever. Most importantly, these characters melted my heart! You captured feeling and vulnerability so well in the dialogue.
Amazing work. :)
A quirky and fun visual novel with an adorable, clean aesthetic. Loved that you could choose who actually ate the ice cream! The humour was great, and I really appreciated the extra little touches, like the angel/devil bars, and the button in the menu that lets you see all the endings you've unlocked. That attention to detail makes for such a nice experience for the player. :) Lovely little game!
I adore your art style and writing!! The little animations and expressions were very endearing, and I fell in love with the characters and their dynamic even within the short length of the game.
Their dialogue was snappy and hilarious (that line about the baby statues made me laugh!), and it's thrown into high relief against the creepy nature of their setting. I also loved the multiple endings! And the music was an excellent choice, amping up the mysterious vibes. So many things to love about this game.
It's also funny because my O2A2 entry has a slightly similar concept to yours, so it was a real coincidence to come across yours and play it! :D Awesome work!
What a cutie!! Consider me thoroughly charmed by this cupid. :3 And the colour palette is like eye candy; I could eat it right up! Gorgeous art and UI, witty and delightful banter - what more could one ask for?!
I did play the full version to get all endings, and I'm so glad I did! Though my fave ending is the one in the O2A2 version anyway. ;)
IN.CRED.I.BLE. I'm in awe of how much of an impact this created in such a brief experience and within the asset limitations!
Every detail of this game was done with such care and skill. The lush visuals and gorgeous music drew me in immediately. Then I was hooked by the exceptional writing, brought to life by the voice actor (who did an amazing job)!
When I first came across screenshots of this game, the poetry mechanic was the thing that intrigued me. It worked beautifully for the game's pacing and sequencing, allowing the player some agency in piecing together the mystery.
The atmosphere, compelling suspense, and horror elements were so well crafted - creepy and alarming, but artful and never overdone.
And the ending! It hit me like a sledgehammer! The execution of that reveal was PERFECTION.
Stunning, stunning game. Exquisite. Now I need to check out the rest of your work.
Really clever concept and well-executed! The tension is there from the beginning, and I thought the "blinking" effect that brought everything into focus was a great touch. It was cool that the choices felt like they had a balance of reasoning and chance. Glad I got to save everyone on my first try - phew! Brilliant art style too - loved the juxtaposition of the bubblegum-colourful palette against the dark theme.
These guys have stolen my heart - this VN was so sweet and funny ahahaha! The panicked inner monologue was super entertaining, especially with Vale just chilling in the back there. Lawrence's angry eyes made me chuckle too. :P I want to see where this duo goes from here!!
You have a beautiful, polished visual style too. And the spinny menu is a treat!
Simply delightful all-round!
This is a POWERFUL piece of art. I've always found the story of Hector and Andromache so tragic, and you've masterfully shone a spotlight on the continuation of that tragedy. I found the interactions between mother and son fascinating, with the struggle between shifting interpretations of loyalty, love, and honour.
So many beautiful quotes, delivered with raw emotion by the voice actor (massive kudos to them!). One of my favourite lines was: "Suffocated by flames, slain by the sword's sighs". Such evocative, lyrical phrasing.
The artwork is lovely: Andromache's facial expressiveness captures the horror of her situation. Perfect choice of music too, conveying her despair and confusion.
The repetition of the line at the beginning and end was *chef's kiss*, hammering home the bitter notion that Andromache is the "mistress of her own fate", though her only options in this moral dilemma are all devastating.
Thank you for YET ANOTHER EXCELLENT sound effects pack!!
You are truly a godsend for creators.
I used one of your writing sound effects in my gothic visual novel (with credit): https://almanak-games.itch.io/painted-memory
This was so wholesome!!!
I'm a fan of Dungeon Meshi but haven't gotten that far into the story yet, so admittedly I'm not familiar with all of the characters in your game, but I could get a great sense of their personalities from the way you wrote them. The dialogue sounded really natural and flowed smoothly! I could picture so clearly the funny interactions between Kabru and Laios. :D
And the art is SO good! You have an awesome style. It was also very clever using the Contact Fairy to represent everyone's facial expressions to stay within the O2A2's jam rules!
Cozy vibes, lovely writing and aesthetics, relaxing music - all in all, a wonderful fan-game!
A dark story brimming with melancholy, creepy vibes and poetic writing. Though you say your game is "not the prettiest", I'd argue that it's got a great art style, and especially impressive that it was put together in 2 days! The browser version doesn't seem to load the backgrounds properly, but in the downloaded version, the effect of the background is unnerving and perfect for building atmosphere. I especially liked the little details, like the breathing sound effect. Nice work on your O2A2 submission!
A lovely, bittersweet, and introspective story about growing up and drifting apart from old friends, as well as from our old selves. I was drawn in right from the start, and I've got to say - the floating balloon-letters in the main menu was a really nice extra touch! Great job with this O2A2 jam entry. :)
What an intriguing premise! The aesthetic of your game is delightful - including the pleasing presentation of the text and the little icons representing each character - and the conversation has a fun dynamic, despite the seriousness of the subject. The changes of facial expressions on the painter are particularly cute! The world-building is already super interesting from the snippet we discover here, and I think it could make for excellent lore for a larger game if you wanted. :)
THIS WAS BEAUTIFUL. Oh my heart. As a cat person, this game emotionally devastated me (in a good way).
Besides the touching prose, your art style is exquisite, the music/sound is poignant, and your twist on the Orpheus/Eurydice myth was a superb choice!
The execution of your concept within the O2A2 jam's rules was also very clever, down to the detail of the up/down camera movement of each step.
Awesome work!
Incredible library of sound effects! We used some of them in our game jam game (and credited you): https://almanak-games.itch.io/baba-yaga-prologue
Love your work!
