I'm surprised by the lack of comments. This game is awesome! Especially considering the time limit. My only complaint is that it felt like it was going to be a longer/more detailed game than it actually was, but that's pretty normal for a Game Jam game.

I held down that enter key for 40 minutes because I felt so committed, so I'd like to believe that I have the world record for this. 

Really cool game, but I can't progress because I keep dying when the power stops working and the O2 runs out. It feels like I've clicked everything trying to figure out how to fix it. 

It feels like a mix of Prey (2017) and Iron Lung --or in other words, it's awesome and I can't wait to see your future projects!

Good game, but the controls are very inconsistent. It switches between having you use e, spacebar and enter to select things and switches between WASD and the arrow keys to move in menus. Also, having a main menu button would be good.

I also found a bug with the phone: when you write/sell poems on it while you have the calming pills, it takes the pills each time you press I.

Regardless, keep up the good work!

Edit: I just remembered that there's also a bug with the dialogue: when I asked some students if they needed help, the captions wouldn't show up for most of it and then flash after a few seconds. This started after I asked one person (the lost bookbag girl) if they needed help. My earbuds just broke yesterday and my computer doesn't have speakers, so I had no way of knowing what they were saying.

This is super fun! My only complaint about it is that after a few runs I realized that I don't know what the Rest meter actually does because I frequently got it below -500 and there was no noticeable difference. I'm guessing that it changes the probability for certain things to happen or something, but I'm not sure.

I'm surprised by the lack of comments on this game, so I'll add one. Great concept, cool robot, all I would change is that I would add captions for the radio, because it was hard to understand at times and I missed a bunch of important dialogue.

I'm a bit confused about the ending(?) of this one. The videos linked in the comments show the phone booth as the ending of the game, but when I escaped from the prison I ran straight to the police station and she was standing outside in her normal clothes. The first time, I walked near her and got stabbed. The second time, I went inside of the station and couldn't say anything to them about the killer or what happened to me. I went home, to the crime scene, to Vanessa's house, and eventually just went and intentionally got killed at the station because I didn't see any other way to end the game. I couldn't go to the phone booth after going to the station and getting my car. 

I think that the game would benefit from having restrictions on where you can go after escaping. I'm assuming that the phone booth and the station kills are the official endings, but having the ability to go inside the station and to everywhere else in the game doesn't make sense after escaping. The killer doesn't stop you from entering the station, she only stops you if you click on a random spot in the area. You can just walk right in front of her and she doesn't say a word, and you don't have the option to say anything about her to the clerk. I also tried to talk to the cops at the crime scene, but obviously couldn't. 

The game would also benefit from 1) A save or autosave function and 2) a "game over" screen for premature deaths that's different from the ending, with text that makes it clear that the game doesn't actually end there. In my first playthrough, I died right after getting Vanessa Smith's address by walking out of the police station and then clicking on a random spot instead of my car. I would have assumed that you couldn't actually get in the car and progress further if it wasn't for the comments that implied I hadn't seen everything in the game.

Regardless, it's a really cool game with a great art style! I'm looking forward to your future games. :)

The game broke for me in 3 different spots- 2 while playing in the Opera web browser, and 1 after I downloaded it in the hopes of avoiding bugs. I couldn't move or look around, the only thing that still worked was holding right click to view the to-do list. The first 2 both took place on Tuesday, the first was right after I paid, and the second time was right after I ate. The 3rd one happened just now on Friday, right after the first(?) work. The animations and music still work just fine, but I can't move or look around. All 3 times I was unable to get it to work again and I restarted for the first 2. I don't want to replay the whole week again, so I'm not replaying it this time around.

I've only gotten 3-4 wishes so far but all of them have been blank. Don't know if this is a bug or what

Hey, thanks for your reply! I actually didn't notice the feedback sheet, sorry. That must be from someone else who had the same issue, unless I somehow did it and forgot. But if I remember, I might go back and reverse the correction I made (if necessary) and make a proper bug report later.

I'm experiencing a bug that started in the first game I played but has carried over to the one I just started: The code panel for the garage won't stay up long enough for me to put in the password. It just flickers on screen. It started in my old save when I accidentally locked the door using that panel and now I can't open it at all in this save. I'm gonna have to climb the ladder outside to the roof so I can open the garage door. In the last save, the panel on the other side of the door also didn't work, and I'm expecting it to not work here either, but I'll update this if it does work.

Edit: After flickering once or twice, I got it to work from the garage side! Don't know what the deal with that is.

Edit 2: Another bug I forgot to mention (which is pretty similar) is that sometimes I can't access the consoles. Pressing E on a console makes me kind of jump like I was moving into position to view the screen, but it won't let me actually use it. It's been happening on-and-off for pretty much the whole time I've been playing, but I only thought to say something now because I'm currently unable to use the console in the base.

Edit: I didn't even see the extra settings, lol. I glanced right over that little E on the right.

It's a really interesting and unique game, but I'm currently stuck in a loop where I'm starving and out of stamina with no money, holding a bunch of MREs that I can't force my character to eat a single bite of unless they're inches from death, and unable to sleep because I'm hungry. Also the power's out and I don't know where the transformers are. I've only found one, and I don't even know exactly where that is cause I just basically crawled back from it in the dead of night after resetting it, which didn't fix the problem cause one or both of the other transformers are down. I think I'm going to start a new game at this point, since I'm only on day 4 and haven't really been able to get anything done.

Also, I haven't had any luck with selling data. I've shipped 2 boxes so far and got emails saying that there wasn't any data on them, even though the lights were green. Maybe I sent the wrong amount the first time, but I'm pretty sure the second one was correct, minus the satellite hashes because I can't seem to use the compass correctly, so I can never find the right satellites in time. I don't know how you're supposed to be able to get all of these things done in a day.

Cool game and concept! I've found a few bugs tho:

 After getting a game over, I can't interact with the book anymore even after going to the main menu to start over, with and without the tutorial.

A second, minor bug/oversight is that when you have a stone slab in the rune device, you can't back out of it to double check the book. You can only burn the rune onto the slab, which isn't great. I have to set the rune before putting the slab in so that I can reference the book.

The finished slabs have a bit of difficulty going through the slot, and several seconds before I got a game over one just got completely stuck. I'm not sure whether that was the result getting a game over and it refusing to accept any more slabs, or if it was a geometry issue.

Edit: Pretty sure it was a geometry issue, as I just got another game over right as I was putting a slab into the slot.

This last thing isn't really a bug, but if you grab the order sheet from the printer and it's really long, there's nowhere you can conveniently put it. I had to put it on the floor at first, but was eventually able to prop it up against the wall by the printer.

Regardless, love the game!

I loved the game! It's super creative and engaging. I figured out 98% of the game, but had to use the F1 menu to skip the chase scene because I couldn't find the basement key no matter how hard I looked. Fantastic work!

Just encountered a pathing issue after switching bots from regular code to pre-programmed functions. I switched out all of the fire-making code for a function that did the same thing and for most of the bots it was perfectly fine, but I had to re-reprogram 3-4 of them back to the regular code. They made sparks perfectly fine, but kept attempting to get coal from a source that was completely blocked off (all 3-4 chose the same one). The best part was that the coal they were trying and failing to get was surrounded by the largest quantity source blocks, so I couldn't make an opening for them to get to that block. 

I had to change them from the function I made (which used "Find and Pick" for all materials) to "Pick From" with a coal source that they could actually access. I didn't have this issue in the previous update of the game that I played 7 months ago, and only a few bots were effected by the change. I don't know if campfire placement was an issue, because I only thought to check the campfire location of one bot, but that campfire wasn't placed very close to that coal or anything.

In case it matters, the unreachable coal in question was at the bottom of a vertical 3-block line of coal. It was surrounded on all sides, unlike the other 2 coal blocks next to it, which had at least one uncovered side. The other bots used the top one in the line, and maybe the middle (but I didn't think to watch for that). I had to change the problematic bots to pick specifically from the top one in the line. The rest of the bots chose that block just using the "Find and Pick" code.

This is awesome! I saw this game in a video a while ago and thought it was cool, but didn't think to try it out. Now I'm playing a few of your games and decided to try this. I managed to beat it in one try despite taking forever to figure out how to use the machines. I had enough time to not feel much time pressure (plus I assumed I would fail on the first try, so I wasn't too concerned about it) and was actually able to think clearly.


The only problems I have with it are that items are difficult to place down safely, and items that end up on the floor can be very difficult to pick up (Where are my knees, Mike?).

I really want to play this, but I just keep getting this error:

Unable to parse Build/ContrarianPress_WebGL.framework.js.gz! This can happen if build compression was enabled but web server hosting the content was misconfigured to not serve the file with HTTP Response Header "Content-Encoding: gzip" present. Check browser Console and Devtools Network tab to debug.

The game glitched for me on day 4. After telling me about the contest requirements, Justin randomly said two lines in Russian and then the only thing I could click on was my phone, which I couldn't put away and had no clear use in that moment. Otherwise, great game!
