There's been a few updates from the author on the discord, but TL;DR: life got in the way + wanting to wait out the itch.io blackout earlier this summer. You can join if you want more updates!

Editor of the VN here, don't wanna speak on behalf of creator, but he pretty much dissapeared soon after the release of this first chapter when the team collapsed due to internal feuds. Project is 100% canceled by now.

A fantastic prelude to the end of the story. Everything works together so well to convey the desperation of the surprise attack, including the fakeout "ending sequence" Byte and MC have each night, it got me good.

If I had to nitpick, Aeyon's "sacrifice" felt a little anticlimactic in the way it's written, it was still very impactul.

I hope the writer can stick the landing with this one, not expecting a conventional ending whatsoever to a story like this, but we'll see.

Translator/writer of the english script here. Nowadays it's getting rarer for people to actually give constructive criticism so I really appreciate you taking the time to write this.

The new rewrite was implemented as a way to ease the burden and restraints of doing branching routes and days as a story progression anchor, while I do get your complaints about the slightly different character portrayals. It's not "throwing away" writings as you said, but simply building upon it to tell a more complex story for every character, with more freedom for the writer!

With time we hope to tell each of the stories with a mountains more depth and character development than what the old script could offer. Thank you for your support, seriously!

"Hey @everyone, long time no see. I'm making this small announcement to let y'all know that this project is NOT cancelled. 

Life has been busy, and I have simply not found much time to work on the script, that being said, the story is still actively being worked on. The plot had to be reworked significantly to accomodate new conflicts, make certain characters more relevant and more. 

I thank everyone for your patience, especially our dearest patreon supporters for staying until now. We can't give a certain release date for the next chapter, but rest assured there will be more updates in the near future."
