A fantastic prelude to the end of the story. Everything works together so well to convey the desperation of the surprise attack, including the fakeout "ending sequence" Byte and MC have each night, it got me good.

If I had to nitpick, Aeyon's "sacrifice" felt a little anticlimactic in the way it's written, it was still very impactul.

I hope the writer can stick the landing with this one, not expecting a conventional ending whatsoever to a story like this, but we'll see.

I mean, is the point of a character's death not to showcase how the characters around them are affected? And, in a well-written story, have these effects linger throughout the narrative?
