I'm a developer and I also use Godot. I'm already working with a pixel-artist, and it would be great to collaborate on a team

Hi everyone!

I'm currently developing a dark-fantasy Roguelike-Metroidvania inspired by Blasphemous and Dead Cells, and I'm now looking for a pixel artist who would be interested in working on environments and backgrounds

This is currently a hobby/rev-share project, but the game already has a working prototype and core systems in place

Project Overview:

The game is set in a dark religious fantasy world where warriors of a militant order undergo a purification ritual. Their souls are transported into a metaphysical dimension where sins manifest as divine entities

The player must defeat these manifestations to return to the real world

The tone is heavily inspired by gothic symbolism, religious themes, and dark, oppressive atmospheres

Current Development Progress

The project is already in a prototype stage. Implemented systems include:

• Character movement

• Melee combat

• Enemy AI (behavior trees, detection, combat logic)

• Health and damage system

• Basic enemy framework

Engine: Godot

What I'm looking for

I'm specifically looking for a **pixel environment/background artist** to help define the visual identity of the world.

Main tasks:

Backgrounds (parallax layers, atmospheric scenes)

Tilesets (later stage)

• Environment props (architecture, decor, silhouettes)

• Visual mood and lighting direction

Style:

• Dark gothic pixel art

• Strong silhouettes and readability

• Inspired by:

  - Blasphemous

  - Dead Cells

  - Dark Souls (tone, not gameplay)

Resolution:

• Characters ~64x64

• Backgrounds can vary depending on composition

Important Notes

• This is not just an idea — the project is actively being developed

• I handle programming, systems, and gameplay design

• There are already placeholder visuals and references available

• I'm looking for someone who enjoys the genre and wants to build something meaningful together

Workflow

I focus on:

• Programming

• Game architecture

• Mechanics

• Combat systems

The artist focuses on:

• Visual direction

• Backgrounds and environments

• World building through art

Compensation

Currently this is a hobby/rev-share project.

If the project grows into something commercially viable, revenue sharing will be discussed

Contact

If you're interested, feel free to:

• Discord: alb3r70_a

• Share your portfolio or examples

• Ask any questions

I can also share current gameplay footage and references

I'm a programmer currently developing a dark-fantasy Roguelike-Metroidvania inspired by Blasphemous and Dead Cells. I'm looking for a pixel artist to collaborate with who might be interested in the project.

This is currently a hobby/rev-share project. I'm primarily looking for someone who enjoys the genre and would be willing to collaborate creatively.

Project Overview

The game is set in a dark, religious fantasy world where warriors of a militant order perform a purification ritual. During the ritual, their souls are transported to a metaphysical dimension where sins manifest as divine beings. The player must defeat these manifestations of sin to return to the real world.

The narrative tone and atmosphere are largely inspired by dark religious symbolism and gothic aesthetics.

Core Gameplay

Genre: 2D Roguelike + Metroidvania

Key Features:

• Procedurally generated playthroughs • Varied combat • Diverse builds using weapons and artifacts • Boss fights representing the Seven Deadly Sins • Multiple playable characters determining difficulty

Current Development Progress

Working systems already implemented:

• Character movement • Melee combat • Enemy and AI detection • Basic enemy system • Health/damage system • State machine-based AI architecture

Engine: Godot

What I'm looking for

A pixel artist interested in helping develop the game's visual identity.

Key tasks include:

• Character sprites

• Enemy sprites

• Boss concepts

• Simple animations (idle/move/attack/hit/die)

• Environment tiles/props (later)

Sprite scale: Characters are created using sprites approximately 64x64 in size with a clear, legible silhouette.

Style: Dark, gothic pixel art, inspired by:

• Blasphemous • Dead Cells • Dark Souls aesthetics (tone)

However, the project has its own world and lore, and is not a derivative work of the original.

Current character concepts

The game revolves around members of a militant religious order:

• Frater - a standard warrior monk

• Deacon - a ritual fighter

• Predicator - a warrior preacher

• Inquisitor - an extreme difficulty character

Each character represents a different level of difficulty.

Workflow

I work in:

• Programming

• Game systems

• Mechanics

• Architecture

• Gameplay design

The artist will primarily focus on:

• Character design

• Enemy design

• Sprite work

And new mechanics are certainly possible.

I already have temporary sprites and references to help define the style.

At this stage, this is not a strictly commercial contract, but rather a collaborative indie project.

If the project grows and becomes commercially viable, profit sharing will be discussed.

Contacts

If you're interested, please send me a private message or leave a comment.

It would be great to see:

• some examples of your pixel art • or a portfolio

I'll also provide character concepts if anyone is interested.

Thanks for reading!
