Thanks so much that’s great to hear! Its very hard lol I’d argue one of the hardest in the jam
Also about pressing R to restart, I agree and if I had more time I def would’ve added it
Thanks for playing!
Thanks so much for playing and congrats on an amazing score! I definitely hear you on the enemy issue, I gave them a lifetime that increases the longer u survive, but ended up running out of time before being able to make something like a healthbar or indication to the player. They also spawn a little bit offscreen, I think in the future I will make everything (goals and enemies) spawn inside camera bounds and also make the camera follow the player so the space doesn’t feel so binding. I think more space would only make the game more fun while keeping it challenging. Let me know if you have any other ideas!
First of all thanks for playing!
This game was actually originally supposed to be a power management game for the Kenney Jam about a month ago, but the scope of this game ended up being too large for such a small jam.
Then this ended up being a heavily rushed product for the Player2 AI NPC Jam, so there are a lot of things to fix lol.
I am having trouble being motivated to work on this game for the next AI jam, so this feedback is actually very helpful!
I wanted to make the villagers have their own "narrative" and interpersonal relationships powered by the NPC AI, and the player could also interact with villagers to build relationships. Then in the council those relationships are meant to be put to the test, rebellion being the worst outcome. I had to heavily simplify the scope of the AI relationship system because I spent a lot more time on the combat to make the game actually fun.
I am adding a conversation system currently so the game is going closer to being an RPG.
Again, thanks so much for playing this broken game lmao and I'm open to any more feedback and thoughts. I really think this game has potential but it'll take a lot of work
In your judging would you still consider a game that has lots of potential with the idea but requires more time and effort to be done right because of the scope?
I worked a lot on the combat side (a bit too much) to make it fun so the social system / AI part was kind of last-minute. However if this game does well in this jam and people like the idea I will definitely push to make it a product that people will actually want to play, combining the juicy combat with AI-powered villagers that you actually talk with and have interconnected relationships etc. I'll probably make a whole narrative too...all of this for the next jam and some motivation from this jam would help a lot!
Npcs will come up and talk to you, asking for power. You can give them power with the power staff (item slot 2) from your own supply gathered by killing enemies.
Every time a villager dies at night, a council scene will commence, where the AI villagers will discuss their grievances, praise, etc., depending on what you did as a leader and how much power you disrtributed. The villager factions eventually decide one by one if they will rebel or not.
