Break2Zero is a retro inspired brick-breaker that you can play in your browser, on a desktop or a phone. You clear each level by breaking every brick you can while keeping the blue ball in play. The red bonus balls are free, so you can drop as many of them as you like.
There are eleven levels at three difficulties, and thirteen kinds of brick, which are introduced a few at a time. Some bricks give you lasers, a safety net or a sticky bat. Others bring blackouts, reversed controls and a red lens that blurs the screen. The later levels add rows of metal bricks that sway from side to side.
You steer with the mouse, or on a phone by touching the screen or tilting the phone like a steering wheel. If you swipe the bat under the ball as it bounces, you can curve the ball.
The music is chiptune by Juhani Junkala. The sound effects are panned in stereo, and each hit’s volume follows the speed of the impact.
When a game ends, you get a certificate with your time and difficulty. You can add a selfie to it, which never leaves your device.
It’s free, with no adverts, and it’s open source under the Apache 2.0 licence.
