I noticed there are very few elves in recent games, comics, books or pretty much any medias aside from Baldurs gate 3. This is the only media people can find when asked about elf content and this has been going on for more than ten years at least, the other example for games is morrowind which is 25 years old.

On the other hand in Japanese medias we can see plenty of manga and anime with elves playing a big role and it seems more are coming, IDK for Japanese games though. How come the elves are being forgotten in western media but thriving in Japanese ones?

i never though of that before, that might be it

I saw some developpers making small games and getting no view or comments, suddently they do get some attention with people praising their work and asking for things, and the devs delete all comments...

Is there a logic behind this? You get no attention at all and the minute you do you censor everyone

Hi there I'm looking for games on elves to try out, I looked everywhere but couldn't find any, thanks

I think the reason this will never change is that for some reason people want to assume elves already have a lot and are somehow overdone while they have nothing at all. And elves fans are dead silent so developers do not see any demand.

I tried the game but it's just unplayable at this stage, I think you released a demo WAY too early

this is incredible! While you see to love horror did you try anything with old folklore elves? They used to be pretty terrifiying

I find it sad elves are very rare in gaming, I can't think of a single game centered on them, but I have been thinking about how a city builder on elves could be unique.

First of all I find elven architecture and design to be absolutely gorgeous and unique, I will never forget when I explored Silvermoon for the first time, not to mention elves have a big affinity with magic and nature. But for me the main thing that would make an elf themed city builder different from a normal one would be the lifespan of the elves. Think about it the first citizens you would get at the beginning of your game during the foundation of your city would still be alive after hundreds of years, they would have families during this time, they would have fought during the early conflicts, designed some of the major places of the city,…

Some of the first elves who would still be alive at the end of the game could talk about how things were back then or how they saw the city evolve or how the city almost fell during a terrible war.

What do you think of this idea?

and now you can understand that elves have nothing for them, I mean if your favourite race only had very old games or some sloppy mobile games I don't think you would be happy. now compare elven games to games on dwarves, vampires, goblins,...

eh it makes sense many people would complain about this problem, when you dive into indie games to see fresh and new things only to find the same dwarven slop all the time it can make you upset. Also those games you listed have a few elves playing a very minor role, but what the OP wanted I think are games fully centered on elves and I doubt you could find any.

I can only agree, I never liked dwarves that much and in many universes like warcraft, lord of the rings and others dwarves are not given a lot of attention because there isn't a lot of interesting things with them. But for some reason, or maybe because people think the majority of people love dwarves and not just a few loud and noisy fans, everybody makes games on dwarves, they are everywhere. And the worst part is that it's always the same thing, the same names, designs, characters, mechanics,... All of them barely different copy of some very boring and overdone theme.

I can't say this will come to an end either, it has been going for years, players are showing by not buying those games who all fail badly btw that they want something new and daring, yet people keep making games on dwarves... As for elves in gaming I doubt anyone would ever dare to make a game centered on elves, i feel it would be too complicated and nobody would ever attempt that, there is a limit to what you can ask people to do.
