Having a lot of trouble getting it to work. It only launches Quake, not the pak file. Also, where is the standalone version mentioned in the description?

The zip file in the downloads is the standalone package that you can play with vkQuake, Quakespasm, or Ironwail.
If you use vkQuake or Ironwail, after you drop the enyo folder into the Quake data folder, the enyo will appear as an option in the mod menu. In Quakespasm, launch the game with quakespasm -game enyo
.
heheh yeah. "to play this standalone program you are going to need to go get another program as well as a copy of another game" maybe im just spoiled with how well packed most doom standalone games are
also, thank you for the advice. still had a bit of trouble figuring it out, but in the end i found i could select it in the in game menu
Standalone simply means that you don't also need to own the parent game that the mod was originally built off of, which in this case would be Quake. Many authors of such things do include a sourceport along with the release, but not always. For instance there are a ton of standalone Duke Nukem total conversions, but in that community it is very common to NOT include the sourceport as it is assumed that most people playing the mods will have their own copy of eduke set up already. Similarly it is also a common occurance in the DOOM modding community and often you will find "standalone" .ipk3 files which don't require the user to own a copy of DOOM or even FreeDOOM, but you will still need to acquire a sourceport of your choosing first to actually play it.
