I'm a fan of yours but seriously, you've shown what your game will be like so that someone is really going to pre-purchase it, especially if they follow you like me and see how you're doing with your development.

It's like a kickstarter campaign.. 
Project Yora: Zero is in development but it needs funding so that I can justify sacrificing school grades and my life and invest my time in game dev instead.
Project Yora: Zero is a 2.5D/HD2D game and I am pushing he quality barrier with it, that's why it will take a lot of time and effort.
Relying on donations isn't good. People are more likely to pay when they are put in a professional situation: in this case "pay to pre-order".

And no one is forced to pre-order, they can wait until Project Yora: Zero is released on Steam.
