We had someone with a similar bug and he managed to get the game running by doing the following steps:
Right click in the folder with the game, then select Open in Windows Terminal. Once it's open, input the code
./dreadlord_ascension.exe
FInally hit enter and the game should open, or an error message should be displayed.
If that still doesn't work, we're releasing a new demo version early next month so it might also fix your issue at the same time
