I am currently working an RPG assets series aptly named Tiny RPG. Here I will be posting some updates on what have already been done and what are the probable next steps.

DONE

  • Battle Kit I - Here I cover some basics to build a nice JRPG battle. Characters, weapons, monsters, VFX, basic GUI and a background.
  • Green Wilderness - This 32x32 tileset includes everything needed to build some wilderness area for the players to explore. Blobs are included for autotiling, checkout javikolog’s Autotiler on how to bitmask the blobs.

  • Nearby Cave - This 32x32 tileset has all the basics to build a cave, including pits, animated torches and shadows. As above there are also blobs for autotiling, checkout javikolog’s Autotiler on how to bitmask the blobs.

TO DO

  • Nearby Village - This will be the last tileset for now, covering the needs to build a basic village.
  • Charsets - World charsets for both heroes and villagers, planning on making some basic setup so you can mix and match pieces to generate multiple characters;
  • Bosses and Backgrounds - A single pack including at least 3 bosses and at least 3 battle backgrounds matching their designs. Bosses will be slightly bigger than common mobs and also animated in a similar fashion;
  • Portraits - Unique portraits for the heroes, generic portraits for the villagers. Similar to the charset idea I will try to have some basic setup for the villagers so one can mix and match to generate multiple portraits;
  • GUI Expansion - New icons, boxes, cursors, bells and whistles;

After all the above is covered I will circle back to the start and expand into some topics that were already done, such as aditional heroes, new weapon animations, new VFX and so on.

I love the colors you've chosen, it feels bright and cozy

Thank you so much! It is my go to palette, spent quite some time working on it and haven’t left it since then.
