I like the game's central idea of messing around with the relationship between the player and game. Sometimes it can be very effective to manipulate and confuse a player and break down the idea of where the game begins and ends. I really encourage you to explore these ideas and how they can reinforce a narrative! In this game, there's a few fun twists - reassembling the body of the game's author, believing the game is frozen when it's not, and traversing outside the game space. I like the hints at narrative progression with the pictures too. For constructive feedback, think about how you can tie the threads together into a story: how can the tricks you've learnt and demonstrated along the way reinforce a way of telling a story? For instance, a common trope with these mechanics is to set up a 'haunted' game or entity that is messing with the player. There's so many angles to go with these ideas and it's awesome to see something fresh! Great work.

Thanks for being a part of the Scream TV jam!

Wow thanks, I could really expand on this idea if I ever feel like it :)

Neat experience. I had a little narrative whiplash when it changed from the guy being the last person on the world wanting to escape, to then there being a 4th wall break with the ghost, but it def kept me guessing.

Developer

Thinking about it a little, yes, I should develop that plot in parallel to that of Death Ghost

Cool concept! It seems that I got stuck after collecting the statue. Nothing happened and I could just walk around endlessly.

Developer

It's all part of the experience, there is a room walking all along the dark path.

oooo that’s clever! I have to do another playthrough

If I didn't see the other comments about the fake crash I would have thought the game broke and never waited for the end.

The statue following was unclear for me of maybe I'm too old to play vidoegames lmao

anyway cool entry !

Developer

Yeah, I should have put a warning at the beginning about the false failure or something. People seem to get very confused about that.

I thought I crashed the game by knocking a usb connection over haha

Developer

haha, I wanted to provoke a feeling I had when playing a game that also broke the fourth wall. I think I achieved it.

Unique game and a unique idea. Gave it a 5 star rating would be great if you'd do the same :)

Developer

Thanks... are you real?

Interesting stuff. I like it when devs play around with breaking the 4th wall, but I think you might end up scaring people off the game with the windows notif sound. It definitely made me think twice when I heard it. Kind of a more stressful horror that I'm not too keen on feeling. If you spend more time preparing the player for that kind of an experience, I think the moment might land a little smoother.

I encourage you to keep exploring these types of ideas though! Just be mindful that people are trusting you when they download your game, but it's generally a wary trust. Still, you had some creative ideas here, and an intriguing, if not a little confusing, plot. Good work!

Thanks for the feedback, I think I could have put a warning at the beginning or something, the bad thing is that it didn't cross my mind.

I got a bit freaked out when I got the windows notification sound and the game froze. I did wait it out and got to the end though, but you really had me spooked there for a moment!

Yes, here I took advantage of the screen theme to break the fourth wall :D

This game left me with so many questions and at some points It had me questioning what exactly I was picking up...some of these sprites...idk what to say. My game also crashed after passing thought the black section and my computer started playing notification sounds which had me a little worried tbh.

Developer

If you talk about my body parts, they are arms, I just didn't draw them well due to lack of time. As for freezing, it's part of the experience. If you dare to play it again and wait a while you will be able to see the end.

The game froze for me when i walked across the narrow pathway leading up ward. I think the game could be interesting if i could play it to the end.

Developer

Well, wait a little. It's all part of the experience :)

Hey! It looks like the game isn't packaged with the page. That's ok, and if you've finished the game and forgot to upload it in time, you're welcome to do so during the rating period. Reach out if you need any help!
