Knowledge on how Renpy and overall how coding works for that, will be a big benefit, since you can dig into the guts of the game and go from there.
If I recall correctly, Renpy (from a dev stand point) has some built in translation features.
I think it would be worthwhile if you had a look around on the Renpy community forums and try your luck there.
