Deimus once mentioned that sold items could be returned to stores. I can’t advise further, because I didn’t sell anything :-)
And yes, by black market I mean a pawn shop that's not far from the tailor's shop. Because stolen and resold items often appear in this establishment.
If you don't have time to experiment, it might actually be easier to start the game over again.
