I would have to disagree with the criticism of making the protagonist an anthro. By him being human and the crew all being anthro, it allows diversity within the story and allows the character to grow as he experiences a new life on the ship and builds relationships with the crew members. Overall I loved the story.

What diversity exactly?

Diversity of races that exist within the setting. Thought this was pretty obvious

I mean diversity in stories is what I'm asking.

Someone originally posted that the main character should be an anthro along with the rest of the crew members but by them being a human of different background it brings an element of excitement instead of the same old storyline with similar characters.

Personally I disagree, I already feel like there's plently of VNs that are like that. Also I prefer more escapism with a non-human protag, but you do you.

isn’t escapism assumes you need your surrgate to escape with?… isn’t it the reason why all of those isekais exist out there? Because if not then what kind of escapism even is that?

Are you not allowed to imagine yourself as a non-human protagonist?
