For a 9-year-old, this game's okay. Keep it up. I can see your son being a much better developer when they've access to the internet. (If your son wants to continue in game dev, "scratch" alone isn't going to cut it, since it's only a learning platform. He's definitely a bit young to learn a game engine, but it doesn't hurt to try!)
