Aaaah, thank you so much for the nice and detailed feedback! I’m thrilled that you enjoyed the game and that it felt magical! To be honest, I kinda was like “head empty, fairy tale” for this!
And yes, I took inspiration, amongst other things, of the storybooks we had as a a child for the GUI! I can’t remember which one we had but I would really like to buy me a storybook like this again, haha (and this is something I would like to do for the games from the Brother Chim series)!
Thank you for the art! It would be a lie to say I like everything I drew from this, but I’m happy it ended up giving this fairy tale, “traditional” vibe. And you kinda want me to give this a book layout out of curiosity (or to do this with other stories…).
Now, thank you for the compliments on the story! Believe it or not, but when I was playing Our Cinderella, I had Henri in mind and was amused that both our Cinderella-themed games for this jam ended up tackling social anxiety haha (although yours puts more focus on this, of course). And the back and forth was an important part as I wanted to also narrate the two characters’ different emancipations thanks to the way they perceive fairy tale. I won’t go into too many details as I don’t know if me explaining my own game is that interesting, but basically, while Henri is mesmerised by the Annelise he met and wants to pursue the fairy tale (and go “beyond” it) and, for the first time, do something nobody expected for him, and do it right, Annelise, on the other hand, realises that this dream-like Prince she’s always been curious to meet is as vulnerable as her, and she finds the strength to want to be a place for him to express his vulnerability, and to go “beyond” the fairy tale figure he appears as, to discover the human he actually is.
So, once again, thank you so much for such detailed and nice feedback! I’m glad it helped you find comfort after a complicated week, this game also ended up being a very soft and warm experience for me!
