Not only was it not ignored, it was also explained in detail in the game's own credits. At no point was it hidden.
But obviously the game alone is not enough... a high degree of customization was required... many mods and poses... as well as all the scenes with the naked characters needed further editing since it's not an implicit feature of the game and the models don't look balanced.
The images also had to be edited afterwards to remove the overly cartoonish look.
And it was a personal choice... since the main focus of the game is the stories... the characters are just illustrations to tell those stories. If I were to develop each image one by one from scratch, it would take years to make a simple story.
That would mean focusing effort and time on the visuals of the characters, but giving up the dialog and stories that were supposed to be the main focus.
