Those items are reset any time you sleep, not just when you sleep at the Chaeton inn. You could also do a similar grind loop in the first game, so I'm guessing it's intentional. You can also sell Kay's Soup for 400, sleep, get another dark shroom from Maepole, and have Kay make another soup, repeat
