How many slimes do you have to kill in order to defeat the swarm? Is there some kind of trick to winning it? The Walkthru didn't say anything about how to do it. :(
The swarm is at the town entrance, all the way to the right. Right above the guards watchtower. A cutscene should play when you reach the spot.
