I updated my game and it erased all my save files on android, is it a bug that wont let the game read old save files or did i lose all my progress?

That's probably caused by an internal renaming of the android package.
You need to manually move the files from the old save folder to the new renamed folder: https://wiki.andrealphusgames.com/wiki/How_to_find_a_save_file#Android
