Hello, I was wondering what the theme of the jam was going to be. As of 10:56 it seems to still be unannounced.

I guess the theme is ????? for the moment

its there now yay

First of all, IIRC theme is showed for everyone in their local time. For me start in the 8:30.

Yeah, I was a bit busy so I am late for an hour, sorry. Theme is 1BIT

Nooo! I was hoping for a more "substancial" theme with a direction. Simply 1-bit has too much room for me. And -even though it's not allowed- anyone can submit their old 1-bit asset pack.

Well I could make a 1-bit computer themed asset pack, but other than a 1-bit chip and 1-bit CRT screen, I dunno.

I was thinking the same thing. Was quite excited to participate in the jam but I feel like the theme is too broad. I think maybe a secondary optional theme or even a restriction and a theme would make the jam a lot more interesting.

If you think you need an "optional theme", let's think it is "animals"

Okay so I thought 1-bit is minimalistic. I played around to see how small of a resolution I could make sth interesting. 4x4pixels is too small. Did sime 5x5pixel experimenting and am now making reticles.

Actually you are right. It is more like "restriction". I thought about jams where you have a "theme" (what to draw) and some "restriction" (how to draw, style, size and etc.). Yeah, 1bit is a restriction not a theme... But I think that every jam will be so it won't so good. So my plan is looped.

Themed -> Restricted -> Themed and Restricted -> Themed....

If restriction has to much space for you, just imagine any non 1bit asset and draw it in 1bit. For example I am going to draw a bat. Maybe I will change the decision and will draw something else...
