Oh, to be a tourist double-jumping past security in South America.

This was interesting! Unfortunately my laptop is a hunk of junk and that messed with my experience a little (UE pinged me twice about unsupported drivers, lack of mouse sensitivity options threw me off a bit, and the controls are a bit floaty) but I still managed the platforming just fine.

Have listened to the soundtrack both in-game and on bandcamp and love it! Think it'd work well with some ambient noise to vary things up. In terms of level design... yeah, unfortunately it felt more like a game of "spot the level end trigger" instead of "lost in the backrooms". The entrance's design is quite distinct and there's nothing else like it, which makes it useful for navigation. But it also removes a bit of the horror and mystery, if... that makes sense.

It's also tricky to have a moment of "was that there before?" if new hallways are too out of the established path. Maybe move them a bit closer, or turn a light on (so players can see new stuff easier by turning the flashlight off?)

Don't really know how far in I got, unfortunately. Might give it another shot tomorrow and see if I can puzzle it all out. Nevertheless - a solid start, and good luck with the rest of development!

oh thank you for all the feedback. Yeah I was thinking of adding torches or light that will light up in the direction you're supposed to go or maybe just enemies or decals something else to point players in the right direction. This will be the last game I do that will have issues with getting lost easy. I tried some more experimental game design choices but I have found they are leaving players too frustrated. And since you like the sound track I'll shoot you over a download code for it. Thanks again for playing and I will improve a lot of things for the next versions

oh and by the way there is a way to lower the graphics further. I added it to test out the games "set and save settings mode" so if you need it here is how you do it.

In the main menu on the woman's eye there is an invisible button. Click it and you will here a growl and then you know the very low settings are activated. If you use this setting it really increases the brightness and may be less spooky because you can see everything. But yeah try that if your rig is struggling

This game was extremely hard for me as a non platformer player. I also get motionsick easily so unfortunately I wasn't able to play too long. The music was good. The textures are good. I got got at the end of that long hallway. Wish I could have played it longer.

Developer

oh cool you beat it! Ok I will definitely have a way to turn off motion blur that would likely help. Thank you for the feedback!

Gonna be honest, I lost interest and quit. I got the skull maze, wandered till I found a red pit jumped down because I wasn't sure where else to go and got sent back to the start.

Developer

sorry to hear, I do need to pay close attention to things as far pacing, and design l. There will be a lot more added after the jam is over. Thanks for the feedback!

Haven't finished the game yet but I've playing and it's pretty good! At first, I found the platforming difficult, but I got the hang of it to the point where I find it pretty easy now and it's fun to play! There are some cool platforming sections I'm sure people will have a good time with.  The game has a good OST as well. Keep up the work!

*SPOILERS*

this game does not have any bugs that will prevent you from getting the proper endings. It is actually a rather long game so if you are lost it is more than likely because you are stuck in the loop.

from the beginning after 1 successful loop around the large rooms go left as it used to be a dead end and now will lead to a hallway to another section.

ultimately you will wind up in a house if you play enough and from here you can finish the game

I played this for a while and seemed to complete a full loop of the maze - is there a definitive end, or did I just take the wrong path?

Developer(+1)

Yes. Unfortunately you must've missed that a new hallway opened up near the beginning. Subtle changes like that occur in the first half of the game

Alright, I'll give it another go now and see!

Developer

thanks! Yeah I should focus on making my games a little easier, such as adding more guidance so I appreciate the feedback and will be playing your game soon

Cool! Nailed the atmosphere for sure. Good use of sound cues. I liked design of the crossbeams room. The reaper is visible across from you but the beams are so skinny that you are forced to look down as you jump across them and take your eye off it.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I appreciate the kind words
