I streamed this game on 9/20/2023 via Twitch.  You can find the VOD on Youtube here:

What I liked about this game:

  • It has replayability. I found myself wanting to play it again and again just to improve how long it took to lose. XD

What I didn't like about the game:

  • The graphics are a bit grainy but it's not bad.
  • There needs to be a skippable level 0 that gives you a tutorial.

we are already working on a good tutorial take in mind that is still a beta version but thanks for your feedback 😁🐠

Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 5! It's nice to meet you! My name's Hythrain. I'm part of the FQ team and a hobbystreamer. I'm writing this review live after having played your game.

When I started up, I first went to full screen the game to make it a better experience both for myself and for viewers. However, it didn't really expand the way I expected, instead filling the new area with just a black void and keeping the game to the top left corner of my screen.

Once I got into the game, it took me some time to figure out what I was doing. The hook didn't quite match with the mouse where I would've thought, and without any explanation of what to do it took me a while to figure out to move caught fish to the buttons on the far left or right to either assign as coin or food to keep going. Once I had, I found that if I got hit by anything it would mean the game is over immediately. I also never figured out what the middle button was for.

It works as a good prototype game, but from here it needs to make its gameplay easier to understand, easier to execute and without really cheap deaths due to trying to mines sneaking it from the right while you're trying to increase your stamina.

Finally... I'm not a fan of fishing games of any type. Mini-games, full games, it doesn't matter. They normally always trigger a deep hatred in me for how annoying they are to me. This... doesn't have that. It keeps me here instead of making me want to shove my head through a brick wall, so you're doing something right! :D

Thank you, I love hearing your ideas and at some point being able to update them!

Pros

Nick: Concept is pretty easy to understand. Lots of diversity in game objects.

Ryan: I like fishing.

Cons

Nick: Tough to puzzle out how to actually play at the start. Insta death with little feedback feels like the game freezing when it isnt.

Ryan: Took a lot of unnecessary deaths on the right side of the screen because of mines spawning in.

Wishes

Nick: loose string fishing line physics

Ryan: i wish it was easier to snag the treasure chests.

I think this has the potential to be  fun web game, but it needs a bit of polish. The mouse detection feels off. I suspect you have to click just above the hook rather than where it feels like it should. You should make it so if the hook is touching something when the player clicks it picks up. Also, there needs to be a proper game over screen when you die. Depending on where you die you can just idle and pick up extra coins if you're patient enough. Also, 1 health makes the game feel frustrating. The player should at least be allowed to make a few mistakes

I hope this helps!
