I've been meaning to play this for quite some time now and FINALLLYYYYYYYYYYY I have sat down and had two extremely lovely nights playing this and gaaaAAAAAHHHHHHH I AM OVERCOME WITH SUCH EXTREME FEELS GODDDDDDDDD. What an absolutely fantastic game. I LOVE CHRYS AND SHAY SO MUCH???? And also just the whole cast tbh. They were all so much fun, the dynamics were so entertaining, the cute soft moments were so heartwarming. It filled me up from the inside out like a warm cup of tea ahhh.... 🥺💕
Even starting from when you first load up the game, you know you're in for a treat. From the lovely art, to the peaceful but sprightly music, to the goorrrgeous UI that fits everything about the game to a T and just feels so full of personality and delight. Then you actually dive into the shenanigans and are met with some of the most instantly lovable characters you'll ever meet. I bonded with Chrys almost instantly, I will admit lakdjfakds From his rampant anxiety and awkwardness in social situations, to his hatred of customer service, and even to the troubles that he has finding friends and feeling like he belongs. And then Shay! I loved just how absolutely sweet and charismatic he was, always assuming that he was in the wrong, just trying to do his best GUHHHH. HE WAS SUCH A SWEETHEART. The two of them together just made for this wonderfully fun back-and-forth dynamic, and I loved both their entertaining ripostes and their soft moments.
The other characters were no less enjoyable! Absolutely loved Bea. What a delight! She seemed to fill the screen with her jovialty every time she was in a scene. I really wish she could have been my best friend HAHAHA. And the other friends were also great -- I thought it was a wonderful balance of giving us enough about them and really fleshing them out as memorable chars without them overtaking the protagonists or anything. They felt perfectly done, and especially when everyone was there together, it made for such a wonderfully homey feeling (my favorite was Chrys's party alkdjfalskd THAT SLEEPOVER CG WAS JUST TOO DARN CUTE???? 😭💕
The art was GORGEOUSSSSSSSS the whole entire time. The sprites! Their cute expressions! The beautifully detailed backgrounds! And the CGs AHHHHHH. ESPECIALLY THE LITTLE CHIBI CGS I LOVED THOSE SO MUCH. They always made me smile so much every time I got a new one. And the non-chibi CGs were just absolutely beautifully done. They always came at the perfect time for maximum right-in-my-heart feels guhhHHHhhhhHHHhh I think my favorite was the kiss one in the flowershop............. It was just..... so sweet...... weeping a tad 🥺
The story overall was wonderfully written. Just a fun, engaging style, dialogue that made me want to be friends with literally everyone. The build-up of Chrys and Shay's relationship was beautifully done, and I enjoyed getting to learn new bits and pieces about them along the way. AND THEN IN THE EPILOGUE DKLFAJSKDJFALDSK I was all smiles, I couldn't help it. Eyes were moist.
Overall just, a really incredibly well-done game with an adorable couple, fun dynamic characters, some absolutely amazing art, and great writing that will keep you smiling long after you've finished up with it. I enjoyed this so muchhlkasjdlgaksdjflsakdfad I'm going to be thinking (and crying) about these two all night now AHHHHH 😭💕
