Pretty late reply (I've been catching up on the comments on this VN this morning aaa), but thank you so much for taking the time to write about your thoughts! It's very much appreciated!
I like the yandere archetype a lot in theory, but I don't like a lot of yandere-focused media myself very much in practice. I feel like a lot of yandere stories focus more on shock horror and gore, which is fine if you like that sort of thing, but I prefer yandere stories to dig more into the thought processes of the characters involved. I tend to find that more interesting than violent spectacle (even if there is a bit of violence here too).
I guess I just like writing characters who are sad and damaged hahaha ;;;
