Go to the tavern basement and enter the mine to pick up a chunk of diabosite. Show it to the blacksmith, then he'll give you a quest to get more of them. Buy a pickaxe from the blacksmith and you'll be able to go mining regularly.
it's a chance you find some and not a were-rat or big rat but when you do find diabosite you talk too him as said but your required to have a pickaxe
