Why do people keep talking about "PS1 visual style", yet shadows are rendered by the engine instead of manually drawn on the textures? Welp, at least this description says "inspired"
PS1 visual style consists of a lot of parts, while working on it we took from it low-poly forms with pixelated textures, but because we are working with modern engine it allowed us to combine it with rendered light + we don’t have any colour limitations, which in the end allowed us to create a very colourful style :)
our goal was to create something new while being inspired by the old aesthetics
