[Discussion] Who's your favorite DDLC character & 1st play through choice?

I'll certainly try to make this as spoiler free as possible but if you've just started playing, best to play the game first and then come back to this discussion.

My favorite character is definitely Yuri. I liked her elegance, quiet demenor and the long purple hair certainly drew me to her. With that, I ended up focusing my decisions and choices on getting to know Yuri first of all the available characters to choose from. I'm curious to see what character drew your attention first on the 1st play through of the game? In regards to the other characters, I didn't choose them because:

Natsuki: her aggresive nature was just extremely annoying on a first impression. We all know that saying of first impressions.

Sayori: would have been another good 1st run choice for her silly nature and carefree attitudes but since she was the first character you meet, I decided against learning more about her and opted for Yuri instead.

Monika: Unfortunately, there was really no chance to get to know her. Even when you get the chance as a player, it still doesn't work out.

So, who were you drawn too and why did you pick that character to get to know them on your first play through?

Yuri: Something uncanny about her... not sure what... Can't say I was a huge fan of how sensitive she was and how she overreacted to things... Overall, I'd say she's a good girl... pity she changes the way she does in the 2nd act...

Natsuki: She's not the worst type of tsundere, but not the best either. I get her, but she could get annoying... Overall I tended to take Yuri's side when they fought, but not by much. She's a good girl and stays a good girl throughout, perhaps even improving a bit.

Sayori: I gravitated towards her from the start. Even before finding out about her secret, more so after that. I mean, she's got the most reasons to like Protag-kun so I kind of wanted to help her get with him. Yuri and Natsuki really didn't have too many reasons... Yuri in particular seems to have the least. Monika... well, it's complicated, as y'all know. So, I'd say Sayori is the best girls from act 1, IMHO.

Monika... no sense talking about her in act 1...

I suppose that the best ending would be Protag-kun with Sayori in the machine and Moinka uploaded into an Androdid (Gynoid?)... Poor Monika...

In regards to Natsuki, I had never heard the term "tsundere" before. Now that I've looked it up, she certainly doesn't leave the cold hostility for very long. Which made her less apealing as a character to approach for me.

With Yuri, I didn't notice the over sensativity, if anything, I enjoyed the mystery about her. I thought Natsuki had a hair-trigger sensativity with almost everything though. With respects to Yuri in act 2, I can't really blame the Yuri character for what happens considering all of the changes that are forces onto her and the others. I actually tried my hardest to see if act 2 would have similar results to Natsuki as well. Regardless if you focus your poems on her in that act, it still goes back to Yuri, which did lead to some interesting new converstations but no interactions. I thought a focused, act 2 Natsuki would be more [forceful] or so.

I've seen my share of tsunderes. For a long while I hated them, but then I realised that only the overly violent ones are really annoying, with their violence bordering on abuse... but the mild ones are actually nice...

I'm not sure how you didn't notice the over sensitivity... I mean, she overreacts to a lot of things... she's obviously not very confident. I normally don't mind that... since I have to deal with it often enough, but I guess it's easier once you're invested in the person... Or, who knows, maybe it's something else... I can't put my finger on it, sweet as she is, I think I like Yuri least... (not to say I didn't like her, I still did, just not the most).

Yes, Natsuki is sensitive too, but I just consider that part of her tsundere trait, as opposed to Yuri's stand alone sensitivity.

I wish I could meet Natsuki's papa to give him a piece of my mind... and fist.

I wish we'd have a normal version of this, where we could actually go through with the character stories... it's funny how attached I got to the characters in such a short time, especially since I normally don't like VNs.

Hmm, yeah, probably since I was invested in Yuri first, I overlooked her sensitivity. I probably read too quickly as well and didn't fully grasp what was happening either. Thinking about it now, maybe I just took the sensativity as a lack of confidence and not knowing how to properly act with people (which was touched on, later on in the game).

For other tsundere characters, usually when that tough character exterior is broken down, that's it and the caring person is revealed. Natsuki would pretty much throw up the same strength as before once the moment passed. I think thats why I had the hardest time with her.

I don't mind the VN types but I generally get pretty bored of them quickly. This one held my attention till the very end (a few times) and was satisfying with all the easter eggs thrown in. It probably helped that it was also an ARG and that kept my attention.

In any event, it was a fun game and I look forward to TS's next game.

Agreed, 100%.

So... I never got to the credits... This thread explains a lot. Apparently I am not supposed to take the true ending route on my first run. That explains a lot. Edit: Nevermind. Trying to find modded ending. Edit(2): Tsk.  Not beating the game beforehand makes the secret ending lose its self-congruency.

I didn't know about the "true/good" ending until after I played the game [naturally] without "scum saving" (I didn't realise that was a thing). So I just went along with my choices as normal and got the standard ending. After playing the game a few more times, trying to find a better ending I did some searching around and found the way to the better ending.

Starting out in the game I decided to go for Natsuki. I very much dislike tsundere characters in any medium, but I liked her eyes and hair the most.   After the game started over the first time I felt like I was being guided towards Yuri,  so I went along with it.

However, after having finished the game, my favorite character is Sayori.

I think Yuri :D

You should be able to get to the credits even if you don't do all CGs, I think... You just don't get the happiest ending. Monika interrupts Sayori and crashes the game... Or did that not give you the credits?

On my first playthough, I wanted to get to know Natsuki. It's just her overly cute personality and how she struggles to express herself to the protagonist.

Then, after Monika started to play around with the characters, I started drifting towards Sayori instead, but I never got the chance since Monika already... You know.

Anyways, after Natsuki, I decided to interact with Yuri (since she was the only one left). Unfortunately, I never go to see any of Yuri's endings since Monika decided to f*** with the game halfway through, and I ended up in the deserted room with her.

I actually decided not to advance the game at this point for at least a few hours, since some of Monika's lines were actually interesting. Anyways, after finally deciding to move on, I was really happy that Sayori was the new club president, but then she went haywire.

After the credits, I kind of just sat there for a while, re-reading the note Monika left us, and she suddenly became my favourite character (I know she's the most f***ed up one in the game, but you've gotta admit, that song was adorable). A close second was Sayori, and then Natsuki and Yuri. There wasn't a character that I really hated, either. Overall, this game is amazing, and I'll happily go through the whole thing again just to listen to Monika's song a second time.
