i got the swimsuit for pixie but it wont have me take a bath with her.

i got it earlier in the game so mabye it thinks that after i get this thing i already have, then it will give me the prompt. is there a way that i can continue on with the story or do i need to reset?

No, you probably just haven’t unlocked the event that prompts into you taking a bath.

yeah i did that, thats what it says on the card

or do i have to do it on a particular day because it doesnt say that on the card

So from the start of act 2.

You talk to Pixie at night, does the whole event of you Awakening her.
Talk to her during the morning, she says you stinky.
You buy the swimsuit (can buy it before any of this)
You go to the manor’s bathroom from the living room.
You take a bath and pick bath with Pixie.

Done.
