I'm glad you're enjoying the game :) To cover your suggestions:
The black bars at the top and the bottom of the screen are being phased out, the icons can already be hidden (tap the arrow at the top left of the screen) and screen burn hasn't been a thing since CRT monitors were phased out for LCD (which might experience image persistence, but isn't permanent).
