Uhh.. so I have a little problem... after I choose a language the game shuts down or forced close the app and when I try to play again it will just shut down again, I tried resetting it and after a choose a language the 2nd time it happened again.

Are you playing the Android build of the game?
If so, it's a known bug that the language chooser will close the game. You need to open it again a few times to get it to get it to work; once might not be enough. Once you've got it to work it should play smoothly without any further problems.

the music is so nice ❣️ and so is the writing,  I could feel that melancholy. The truths at the very end and the 2nd playthrough was rly cool! and I also loved the placement + name of the last steam achievement at a point in the 3rd attempt, it fit so damn well xD

I would like you to add the Portuguese language pt-br :(

If somebody offers to translate it into Pt-Br then I would add the translation!

I have played this a bunch and i still dont know if theres more (which is a good thing). this is so amazing and as a aspiring game creator myself this gives me so many ideas, mostly the mechinic of change nearly every reset. its brilliant and i love all the hidden details we have to learn over such a long time- it takes us getting to 3 different endings just to see this big danger and to explain what EXACTLY is happening. it takes 6 deaths to learn the main characters NAME! i honestly find that amazing. cant wait to see more of your work.

I have to say this game was a pleasant surprise, between the narrative and the complete twists with each decision made the entire game feel as though the player had literally no control and that is exactly how the MC felt during the story. This point was well established and I could not stop playing and falling in love with the characters and the story, absolutely amazing work.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the story! ♡

Of course it was so innovative I look forward to other games from you

I will not lie I didn't expect that kinda of game I thought it will be a game with cute girlfriends or something like that (I didn't look at the infos Down from game when I downloaded it :')) but i really love it! I played all 5 endings the last one was the best

I love when Mcs from games get strong personalitys and use it!

So thank you to all who helped with the game for a great game 💜

An absoluetly beautifully written story, it completely emersed me in the story and had me hooked sensee the beginning. I love to see the ever growing amount of queer rep in visual novels and romance games now a days. Keep up the great work!

Man, what an experience! The use of 2nd-person narration to mask but hint at the narrator's character was so cool. I really enjoyed picking up the hints of connection between routes, leading to a great payoff when the ending came. So many creative uses of the VN format, and of course, it looks amazing in every way! Thank you, I had a great time playing this!

(+1)

Thank you very much for your kind comment! I had a lot of fun working on this, and everybody involved is very talented! I'm very happy with how the VN turned out myself!

(+1)

I am not much of visual novels but I must say that your game is wonderful, I liked it so much that I would like to make one too hehe, congratulations for such a good job

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Cannibalism? Sounds good

I downloaded this on my phone but everytime I open the game it just keeps going back on my home screen. (I need help.)

(I launched the game again but sadly it still did not work. (╯︵╰,).)

(I just found out that this is a common bug on Android so I'll probably install it in my computer. I really wanna play this game. (≧▽≦).)

I had a few people saying this happened when playing on phone (probably something to do with how choosing your language is set up), but after a few attempts at opening it they were able to get it working. I tested it on my phone myself and can confirm that it does work, but you might have to try launching it a few times.

Hi, that happen to me with another game, i just close the game, and then i open again, that make it work

And here I thought video games couldn't make me cry. Masterwork in writing, absolute 10/10

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much!
I'm sorry about making you cry though ;a;

I am blown away by the music, the writing and the art. The fact that this is free is a crime. I would say I would love for an expanded version sometime in the future but I don;t want to put that kind of pressure on to you plus I'm sure you have other projects going on.

!SPOILERS PAST THIS POINT!

The one route that felt a little off was the mermaids which after reading the note makes perfect sense why. The fact that everything goes south for the main character after she falls asleep in every route but the mermaids is a little jarring but I still loved her theme of replacing someone you lost with another. She also struck me as the only love interest in the game who actively knew she was hurting the main character meanwhile the Gravedigger and the princess seemed think they were doing her a favor.

My favorite character has to be the witch. See's just....awful in such an interesting way. Constantly praying on the main characters fears and insecurities, always having a snide comment to make about her, claiming she loves her while her actions show the exact opposite.

Belated reply (I'm bad at keeping on top of my comments aaaa), but thank you very much for taking the time to read Lonely, and for leaving so many detailed thoughts on it! It's appreciated!

I did have some vague plans to make an updated version with a couple of extra girls/routes, since there were some character concepts I thought might be fun to play with (I wanted to write a Little Red Riding Hood-style wolf ear girl), but I'm not sure if I'll actually commit to it...
I'll have to see where my muse takes me haha ;;
In any case, I hope Lonely feels like a complete experience as it is, without adding extra content!

I also think the mermaid's route is the weakest of the three, but she has the prettiest character song. I like her aesthetically at least!

Oh my god this is actually insane?? Hello?? I swear i got so swept up in this game that i barely sensed the time passing by. It's difficult for me to express how much I enjoy this game, but I am going to try anyways.
I was a bit confused why there weren't really any names given for the "love interests", but I read the NOTES and it actually made sense! I do think this would be something I'd read in my local library, if I do go outside to read books anyways. It baffles me that I get to experience this for free though?? I'd pay real money for this (if I'm not broke as hell)

I think the thing that made me sit through 2 hours and a half in this game were the characters. It's difficult for me to pick a favorite, but I did like the gravedigger girl. God, I was so sad that she did, y'know, "bury" me with love. And soil. Though I should've expected that. I did pick up on the fact that the narrator is not so faceless since, aside from narrating the series of unfortunate events, she seemed to have some thoughts that she shared in little tidbits, especially in the times of the player's demise. Although if you ask me, I would've stayed with her, but maybe that's just my love for powerful women shining through. I am so glad that the MC is a character of her own though. Going into this, I expected the usual VN experience of going through events in a body that we sorta control. However, I was wonderfully delighted when I got to see little pieces of the MC's previous life and personality in each route, even though she inevitably faced an unfortunate demise in the end.

I think this is the amateur writer in me rearing its head a bit, but I love the writing in this game so much. I think that certain words used in a certain way can help convey a feeling, whatever is desired, to the reader. And I genuinely know that you've succeeded in setting up the atmosphere and tone based on words alone, which is a difficult feat to do, might I add. One thing that did help the writing though are the art. I am in absolute awe of the artstyle. Seriously, huge kudos to the artist since I probably spent way too long on the gallery looking at their art. But speaking of which, I noticed that the background images kind of looks like a close-up shot of paintings. Maybe the texture reminds me of a painted easel? Whether it is intentional or not, I think it's a nice touch!

I apologize that my comment is lengthy and more of a ramble than a review. It's well-past midnight and I am severely sleep deprived. However, I had genuine fun playing this game and experiencing it. It is my first game by ebi-hime, and I am certain that it will not be the last. I'm planning on ending things here, but until then, please look forward to my comments! Thank you to everyone who worked in this project! May you have a bountiful harvest :D

This is a very, very late reply, aaa ;;
I'm sorry for taking such a long time to respond! I try to respond to the comments I get and don't always succeed lol but sometimes life happens...

In any case, thank you so much for the lovely long comment! It was very sweet of you to go out of your way to type up all of your thoughts like this; it must have taken you a lot of time aaa >_<

I'm not the best at thinking up character names, to be honest, so writing a story where the majority of the cast don't have names was a nice way to get out of this...
And it has ~thematic significance~ too, so that's even better!

I did think about maybe writing a couple of extra routes as paid DLC at some point down the line, but I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable doing that...
I wrote this story as a passion project, so charging for it would feel kind of wrong idk... I'm conflicted haha ;;;

I'm not a big fan of faceless, personality-less MCs in VNs, so pretty much all of my leads have personalities. I can't get excited about writing cardboard cutout main characters, so my stories pretty much always end up like this...
Writing a self-insert MC might be a fun challenge at some point in the future though...

And I'm glad you enjoyed the writing! I've been writing for a long time, and it's something I direct most of my energy towards, so I'm glad it was effective at conveying a lot ot feelings!

Thank you so much for your kind words! They really are appreciated!

Tried it on Android, game couldn't seem to get past the language select before crashing. So disappointing.

It's a common bug that Android ports of Ren'py games will crash after selecting your language.
A couple of other people reported this, but said launhing the game again after choosing their language solved the problem, and they encountered no bugs after that.

Wow! What an amazing game! This is my first game by ebi-hime, and I'm absolutely enthralled. Scuttling away from the more bloody aspects of the yandere archetype, It gets so lonely here buries itself alive in the trope's psychological horror. The love interests are deeply traumatized by grief, guilt, death, and, yes, the loneliness of survival at all costs. The heroine isn't immune either, as her insecurities and jealousies stick to her like barnacles, making me think she would lock these women up, if given the power. Murder isn't the most healthy of love languages, but the twilit dreamy atmosphere, artful melancholy, and eerie soundtrack can lull you into thinking about it. I definitely recommend playing twice so you can sink your teeth into the True Ending!

Pretty late reply (I've been catching up on the comments on this VN this morning aaa), but thank you so much for taking the time to write about your thoughts! It's very much appreciated!

I like the yandere archetype a lot in theory, but I don't like a lot of yandere-focused media myself very much in practice.  I feel like a lot of yandere stories focus more on shock horror and gore, which is fine if you like that sort of thing, but I prefer yandere stories to dig more into the thought processes of the characters involved. I tend to find that more interesting than violent spectacle (even if there is a bit of violence here too).

I guess I just like writing characters who are sad and damaged hahaha ;;;

Played a little bit, not my type of game. Will say runs great with either Wine, or native Linux.

(+2)

well, after the end, i feel bad for our heroine, just wanted a friend.

definitely will play again, ty for this VN.

Thank you for reading it! It's appreciated! <3

Superbly well plotted! Painful yet touching. I love this VN! The gruesome deaths are *chef's kiss*

Very late reply, but thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoy writing visceral scenes, so the gruesome deaths were a lot of fun to work on hehe >:)

That was SUCH a good game but I feel so bad for our "friend" :( she DID try in all posible ways (none of them good, but she did try though)

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
And yes, she is trying her best hahaha ;;

I played through this whole game (and saw both instances of author notes) and enjoyed it a lot! The different 'routes' were fun on their own and had enough unique between them to stand out even if they deliberately shared a lot, but it was the overarching connection that really brought it all together in a satisfying way. Very cool and nice story!

I also really like the art by mossinasi! I really like all the characters have bones worked into their designs, on top of being nicely connected, it also just looks really stylish. I'm envious of the gravekeeper's fashion sense.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

And yes, mossinasi's art is gorgeous! I'd wanted to work with her ever since I read a couple of her own VNs; I'm really glad I had the opportunity to do that here!
I love Miss Gravedigger's clothes too; she's very fashionable for a girl who digs graves all day!

this was quite an unbelievable experience to read esp. when I finished it just now at 3:40 am in my time (just me alone in my thoughts while I just finished a game that made me ponder way too much about mortality lol), and by the end I felt so floored, though one thing I wish was possible is to also... help the witch? it might sound insane to say but I also wanted the witch to never feel alone as well.

(+1)

This is a very late reply, but thank you so much! I'm sorry it kept you awake so long hahaha, I hope you were able to catch up on your lseep later!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, even if the ending for poor Miss Witch wasn't too cheerful ;;;

so good but the "not like other girls" dialogue in village girl's story PAINED me

(+7)

I'm getting ideas for a VN called "I'm not like other girls" about a female lead who eats bugs and glass or something...
I'm going to make the most "I'm not like other girls" girl of all time............

NO PLEASE

I just did the shore route and it really moved me. The art is simple but really evocative, the writing atmospheric and whimsical at the same time, and the music... let me just say that it made me very happy to see it's downloadable here. Can't wait to do the other routes and I'm struggling if I should do them now or savor the experience over two-three evenings.

In my understanding, meady would've got what she wanted, and flowey would've too, but meady already went sorta crazy, so things turned out like that. They both just wanted a friend. It's just that for meady, it got too lonely there.

I wish it would've worked out.

Maybe it would've if flowey was stubborn on her original request, to be friends with meady.. it seems simpler to get meady to tone it down than to make a friend in her world, though that may just be because it's what I know more of.

The mead is brewed with red, green, and blue. The ingredients and the product are comparable, though the example is with a reversed equation.

(+1)

I absolutely loved the artstyle and the narration, however, I think I had the most fun in the secret ending part of the game (after you play through all routes). I loved the ANs, the way it was presented to us (albeit I sometimes found it a little too lengthy, despite loving every word of it)--it was certainly a neat experience.

(+2)

i was hooked by the description of the game (cannibalism with a heart....cmon i Had to get it), stayed for the amazing writing and characters!!! i want them all so badly oh my LORD

ALSO ALSO are fanarts of the characters allowed?

Aa thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the story! ;a;
And yes, I allow art of my characters! If you want to draw them, I'd be very flattered!

(+1)

The game is alright, the art style and intro really looked interesting, tho I was disappointed by it because it did have alot of unnecessary text(it was good writing) but it did get boring eventually, the characters look pretty and everything about them is just muah, tho I didn't finish the game because I got bored It certainly isn't the game for me but if you like a game with alot of detail put into it then go for it, personally I was just a bit bored of it.

depending where you stopped, you could use the "control" or "tab" buttons to skip text you read before.

A short VN title featuring an immersive atmosphere. Streamed it some time ago, Ebi-Hime's writing style is always top notch! I also adored the mechanics pattern of this game.

Hi! I found this on twitter and thought I'd check it out. Just wanted to let you know, the apks don't work. Tried on two devices and once you select the language (English) it crashes out and won't open again.

Edit: tried on both android 12 and 13

(1 edit)

I tested the Android build on my phone and it does work. I mentioned it here already, but it's a common problem that the game will close itself down after selecting your language. I was able to play the whole VN from start to finish without any problems other than that.

I may have had a bad install. Removed it, redownloaded it and reinstalled it. It crashed again but this time opened up the second time of loading.

I also got the PC version working on Joiplay so it wasn't a problem in the end. Only a little way through but loving it so far!

I've talked to a couple of other Ren'py devs, and they told me they also had problems with their games not launching/shutting down randomly when played on Android. I think this might be a common-ish problem with .apks built in Ren'py, but I'm not 100% sure. The issue could also be that the VN isn't optimised very well for Android, which admittedy was a bit of an afterthought.

In any event, I'm glad you were able to get it working!

(+2)

Holy shit this is so fricking good!!! The characters, the music, the story, everything is just so dark yet surreal it is literally amazing. Easy 100/10

Spoilers included

Goodness gracious, that was quite the surprise. I really wasn't expecting that ending, though I did have my suspicions about the narrator being their own character. I really enjoyed this work. You wrote in your note that the mermaid was the weakest storyline, but I still liked it quite a bit. Her backstory wasn't as fleshed out as the gravedigger's, and her character wasn't as pronounced as the princess's, but the death depicted in her ending was so visceral I think it will stick with me for a long time. I was also fond of the witch. Knowing the story is written from her perspective really changes things. The fact that the protagonist never had her own dialogue and that the narrator, who was quite opinionated, would occasionally speak in first-person did not escape me.

The use of choices rather than a text box being used for Rosette's dialogue really made it feel as if she had become her own person. Her and Meada being the only named characters further solidified the feeling of being alone, with the other characters being nothing more than puppets on a string.

I also find the uniform Rosette wears to be quite interesting, as well as the mentions that she is "not from this world". This seems to reference the fact that she is in a created world. I believe she may come from one that's similar to ours. However, the mentions of her being well-bred and seemingly implied to be a noble make this a bit unclear. Of course, those statements don't actually come from her, do they?

The point of the matter is I enjoyed this game. The writing was phenomenal, the art was pleasing, and the real-life photos were edited in a way that didn't clash with it. Not to mention the music and the textbox details (maybe it's odd to point out, but I really did enjoy the textbox, especially the button sounds); all in all, it makes for a brilliant and immersive experience.

(+2)

Dark, atmospheric fairytale with beautiful music. I liked how different routes provided small pieces of the protagonist' backstory. It made me want to find out about what had happened to her and who she was running away from. Be careful what you wish for...

(+1)

this was so lovely! getting the last cg was really satisfying too 💜

(+3)

This was absolutely amazing! Your writing is so elegant and beautiful, inspiring and haunting! I write fanfiction in the 2nd person, and the narration of this, of the narrator being a character in of itself, just blew my mind! Again, inspirational! I have some things to read, it seems, because the works that inspired you must be worth the time if they led to this work of art! I'm also amazed that you did this in a month! Even if you had the grave digger and princess' ideas stewing for years, the execution (haha) of it as a whole is just wow! <3 gah, again, beautiful work! Thank you so much for sharing it <3

(+1)

Excellent work, I loved the art, the atmosphere, the writing, the plot (and the ending twist was a clever use of the medium).

(+1)

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I had a lot of fun playing around with the VN medium in this story in particular. I tend to write pretty straightforward linear VNs which aren't too many steps removed from novels, so this was a fun challenge!

[THE FOLLOWING COMMENT CONTAINS SPOILERS, BE WARNED! SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOIL-I need to breath, hold on-SPOILER SPOILER]

I absolutely love big pompous words, chef's kiss. My vocabulary expanded by 1000%

So I played the game one day, and then played it again quite a while later, I had forgot if MC was a lady and was asking myself, then I discovered the protagonist was a lady and the game referred to the main character as me, I felt chills and said "Ooo~ I am a girl". Right at that moment I remembered that the game had done the same thing the last time I played and I had answered the exact same way.

I have to thank the artists for making the princess thingy skeletons and not what is actually written, thank you

I skipped the first notes not because I didn't notice it, but because I realized the gallery had one image missing and decided to try the new game before reading the absolute behemoth that text seemed like

My first was the gravedigger, and I really liked her, but according to the amount of screenshots I took (23), she was my favorite by and large (10 of her, 5 of gravedigger, 3 of mermaid and the rest other stuff)

This is now my favorite VN

When gravedigger started, well, grave digging, I literally had a panic attack, so thank you.

The most impactful was the one I first started with, gravedigger, I felt one of those chills that make your arm hair go up when I was thinking about when she was going to dig us and said "Do they get happily married first?" (I read the trigger warnings and thus was spoiled about what but not when)
Normally I complain about my mom having way too many google tabs open but this game made me open 36 new tabs, just to look up words! I love this and ought (wink) to review all of them until I know them as well as the lines in my hand. Or is it palms of my hand in english?

Yeah, I think this about sums it up, thank you for such a great VN.

(+1)

Wow, I loved this game so so much. All three stories were just lovely, and I enjoyed their tying back together. I do wish I'd taken the "accept" option for each of them when they were presented, but not doing so just means I get to play again! Incredible work!

(+2)

Finally got around to playing this, this has to be one of my favourite visual novels of yours. It was incredibly atmospheric, every character stood out and the writing was brilliant (especially love the use of the narrator, that was completely unexpected). Took me a bit of time to figure out how to get that last CG but it was such a clever trick, I love it when devs use the gameplay as part of the story. Beautiful game, you did such amazing work with it.

Just finished the game and tbh I had no idea what I was getting myself into so when the first ending happened I was so flabbergasted ( I chose to go to the village first) after that I realize how the stories were gonna go.  I overall enjoyed the game nonetheless. :))
