Mmm... Having the MC put ALL his money into a poker game making you know he was going to lose it, shows me an MC I don't want to play. He obviously doesn't care about the roof over his head, so didn't keep a bit back, and he certainly doesn't care about his girlfriend. And from that card game onwards, he just lies left, right and centre, manipulates his girlfriend, and is a nasty piece of work!
I don't play characters like this as they just annoy me, taking away any game enjoyment!
