Can't load from previous save files. That's shucks.

its because new update changed quite bit in terms of new stuffs that needs to get loaded and old saves doesnt have data about them which causes load to get stuck with black screen as a result, at least thats what i think is happening.
anyway game doesnt have anything valuable that makes save lose any bad plus its still beta, so bugs are expected.
If you start new save the save should work properly now
