I can't reproduce the problem on my virtual machine, but it's most likely tied to the operating system version. I run the recommended Mac OSX 10.10 while the official support says that MacOS Big Sur 11.0 and later are not supported at all.
It depends on a case-by-case basis since some players ran my games on unsupported MacOS versions. Kadokawa's (RPG Maker's devs) position is simple - you either run the tested version or it is provided as-is for anything different. RPG Maker uses support libraries for running on MacOS platforms and I guess there are problems with these on the newer platforms. Besides, they are gunning for a new RPG Maker MZ now and it's unlikely that MV (the platform that I use for my games) will get an update.
