OVERALL FUN:

1. This is my personal preference, but I do not like random encounters. Have you considered putting inkblot enemies on the map? You're in narrow corridors, so you can't avoid them, but then if you need to backtrack, you can do so freely without fighting a ton. Just a thought. Not a huge deal, of course. And then they respawn if you leave and re-enter the map for those who want to grind a bit.

2. I think your game would benefit from a starting ability—just one.

3. I like how you have different inkblot artwork, but they all do the same thing. A basic attack. Have you considered giving some a special ability to switch up encounters and make them all feel less repetitive? Right now, it's pretty grindy basic attack-mashing combat. Hit, heal, hit, heal... repeat.

4. Even boss fights only have a basic attack with no special abilities... :-(

ART/GRAPHICS:

1. I think many people will dislike the artwork, but I loved it. It's different and very unique looking. Strangely, it reminds me of Little Big Planet and the stickers we find—very stylish artwork.

2. You used the same animation for Basic Attack & your first ability. Each new ability should have a different animation to make combat more flashy and exciting.

3. You should do animations for items and recovery, as well.

CONTROLS/UI:

1. I think a Victory Aftermath screen would be an excellent addition. You can find some free-to-use online.

2. Controls were easy to understand.

3. Your menu has a formation category... but you only control one person (Blueberry). I will say... I didn't beat Strawberry and quit after that... unless you eventually get companions. If not, you can turn that off.

SOUND/MUSIC:

1. The music was mildly unsettling, which I liked. All the strange SE added and creepy ambient audio mixed in. However, you should get a second track for the right side of the map. After a while, that same song loop got a bit repetitive.

2. A different song for each boss battle would be nice. Same map music, and then the same combat music. A few more songs could help quite a bit.

OVERALL FEEDBACK:

So, please don't take this wrong, but the game is a bit repetitive right now. You venture through maps, search chests, and find the same two items. Enemies have no variety or abilities; even the bosses are normal enemies with more HP and larger artwork. I think combat needs some work. It would be nice if we got some additional items from the chests... and we have an equipment option in the menu... yet we don't find any new weapons, armor, or accessories.

Also... maybe add in some lore/letters you can find along the way to Strawberry. Maybe torn-out diary pages written by Strawberry, etc. You can start to piece the story together before you encounter her. Explain this whole "Jam Girl" thing a bit more.

Have you considered puzzles, locked doors, switches you have to find, etc? Right now, it's a pretty straightforward game... walk, fight, chest walk, fight, chest, repeat.

I will say it's fun at first! And I think this game has potential. I just think you need to add in more variety to combat, maybe some puzzles, locked doors, and additional story/content along the way. I'm interested to see where this game goes, though!

Was this a demo or full game?

I am going through all submissions to make all developers aware of an important Google form I've made.

I'm joining the IQ folks to help organize smaller events in between the main FQ event in order to help prevent us from getting too many games in main events. Right now, I have a planned structure for these events but I would like to hear from everyone who was in this event in order to tune things better. The survey is a bit long, but it covers as much as I could think of. If you can take the time to do the survey by June 1st, I would immensely appreciate it!

Hi! I'm part of feedback quest and I reviewed your game. I'm a Illustrator and a Twitch Streamer by name of "ILYA_N_O_K". The vod is posted. feel free to check it out.

But here are my feedback review so far. Your game is very interesting. I was intrigued by it mostly because of the artwork. I played almost 30 mins and i had fun with it.

But I encountered some few  problems when getting into the game.

-No Main Menu Music.

-The controls are nice. But since I have played RPG GAMES before I was familiar of how to play it.

But instructions would be nice for new players that are new to RPG GAMES.

-Add menu to adjust music.

-The environment can use some work. But I like the visuals of the character.

-I have idea suggestion to have the starting point of where their house is or where they live.
find the clues of how Strawberry disappeared that leads you where the area you go where you start fighting these inkblots.

-The items can use some description of what are they.

-No "Health" Bar [no HP BAR] indicator on the Monsters you encounter. There's no telling if they are dying or not.

-Too many jump encounters. The music can have some work when about to go fight the inkblots. The music changes so suddenly that I get jump scares often but its alright.

-There's no description what is "Inkblots". Blueberry could have some dialogue when first time encountering it. So she can explain what it is and why.

-Tiling is too bright and very repetitive.

- I have another suggestion idea when it comes finding a chest. I dunno if you can make the game focus on Blueberry instead like zoomed on her.

Cause you can see everything is already because you see it as flat environment. You easily can see where the chests are.

For examples like games RPG like "IB" and "Mad father" can help you with referencing.

- Item Crafting can be good idea. Since you fight a lot of monsters on the way.  Finding Blueberry Bandages is pretty quite low.  Since you encounter a lot of monsters before you get to a new chest. like from plants or berries she finds to craft.

- I cant really tell what is the environment is.

-The fight with the boss Inkblot was really interesting!. Because there is no escape option when you start to fight it. It makes the player want to prepare and level up first and take save precautions when it comes to risk of defeating the Boss inkblot.

That's all I can say. I look forward of how your game will turn out in the future. Thank you for your hard work.

I finally got it working!
Its really cute and small, I really like how the paper style looks.
I recommend lowering the chances of random encounters, because they are too frequent, or instead adding the enemies themselves to the world (blocking the chests might be a good idea)
Good work

Hello from tonight's stream!

I wish I had some feedback for you, but I got nothing. XD The artwork certainly made my day.

I see the vision for the artstyle. I think it's very creative but navigating the world was a bit hard on the eyes.

Developer(+1)

aye aye! I'll see if I can increase the contrast on some of the sprites to help that issue! Thank you!

Wanted to play it but windows and my antivirus keep blocking it, could you upload a web version?

Developer

Unfortunatley I can't because the version of rpgmaker I use is so old, I'm very sorry about that! I do not know how to fix the virus alert, unfortunately this seems to happen with any game I make :(

must be rpg maker, don't worry about it, I like the art you made for it

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I wanted to do all of the art in paper for this one, so I'm glad it caught your eye! ^u^
