Game Jams are great for ideation. The themes challenge you to be innovative, and they are a great starting place for you to play with an idea that you can later flesh out into a more fully fledged game. This is still your IP at the end of the day.
For a Jam though, especially one that is just 10 days long, you need to try and keep the scope under control. Personally I prefer to try and add lots of polish to my games if I have the time, but to keep the mechanic(s) very straightforward. Thats my approach for this one. Wishing you both the best.
