There's an item you can get from the slime dragons, and another item you can acquire from the bandit lair or synthesize for yourself later on.
The slime dragon one requires you to get 'slimed' by them, then escape and burn off the slimy coating...
The bandit lair one requires being captured by the bandits and then reclaiming your gear, OR by making it with the synthesis cauldron you acquire later on in the game.
