More information sure would be nice from itch. I think it has to do mostly with taxes, in which country creators are and if they are a business or a hobbyist. The letter they sent out does not even mention adult content. Though in combination it might be crucial, as there are countries in wich it is forbidden.

And from what I could read, many creators have already been contacted in February (but no informations was given if they are finished contacting or if this an ongoing process for existing projects). Some complained that they cannot switch to Direct to you because they do not have Paypal in their country. According to Paypal TOS you can accept payment for adult stuff, but you have to get your account approved for that. 

But if your censored version (or rather, your account) is still considered adult content - and it would be in my opinion - it might not make a difference for itch's concerns. None of the naughty games I bought or are on my wishlist have changed so far. So either they need to contact a lot more devs or many adult creators are not affected, for whatever reason.
