Beat it with Knife+Canned Food+Kettle+Encyclopedia+Map on my first run. Not sure how you are supposed to heal-- I got shot 15 km from the end and no amount of soup, cooked meat, plantains (I only found one though), or rest seemed to cure the bullet wound's 1 km per move limitation, which made that last little bit quite rough. Still, with the rope I had found and my plentiful stock of traps (from walking into them) and cooked meat, I just barely eked my way over the finish line before running out of food.
