The popularity ranking of my game is unfairly low.

I tried to find my game in the over 10,000 adult tags and found my game in a position where it would be faster to count from the bottom.

Several games made by pinktea also seem to have dropped considerably in the rankings.

Did my game violate some policy or something?

I had a problem in my personal life and left it for a while and took a hiatus from game development. However, before the hiatus, I would have been in a reasonable position.

This is a matter of life and death for me, as I hope to someday make a living and devote myself to indie game development.

If the situation doesn't improve, should I delete my page and create a new one?

There's probably nothing wrong with your game. The itch.io ranking system is designed to make games bob up and down, so that more of them get a moment in the spotlight, but even so the number of games here is huge. Two things you can try:

  • Take part in the community. Join discussions. Start some of your own. Rate and collect games, that helps with cross-promotion in several ways.
  • Advertise your game outside itch.io as well. Get a website. Use social media. You don't seem to interact much with people on Twitter, either.

Search engines are a significant source of traffic, but no-one will link to you if they don't know about you. Got to get out there and reach out to them first.

I see. I was a bit panicked because my game was ranked lower than an older game that hasn't been updated for about a year. Thank you for letting me know that it's not because I violated the site's policies and got downgraded by the administrator. Thank you for your reply.
