For me at least you can keep playing after completing an arcade mode (not sure if a small loss of happiness is of concern at that point). Also, there is a easter egg called chaos mode you can find when selecting a difficulty. Things aren't free but prices are adjusted and are cheaper, but also much easier to obtain money. Random events are also much more frequent and of various strengths and lengths.
