Yup I agree the story and interactions need some improvements. Thats why the v0.5.x update focused on it. I have just rolled it out. You may want to check : v0.5 Alpha Public Is Out!
The story is revamped and still lacking (even more lacking than before because of the town changing attitude towards the protagonist). But I will be adding more from time to time.
