At the minimum, anyone completely new would be confused as shit that the $15 one is older than the free one.
Hell, I'm coming back after waiting a bit for updates, and even I'm confused and having to constantly* check things to make sure I got the right one. Especially when I'm trying to control my brain about: "Season Two might be just a version update patch." "But if that's the case, then wouldn't that mean someone could just get the updated one without paying because
