Thanks for the walk through. I have made it back to my village and love the game! The reason I didn't succeed before is that I did not understand the night falling mechanic. I thought that encountering "the sky turns dark and the forest draws you back in" represented reaching the edge of the map. I hope you develop this game further post-Jam. If you do, my top three suggestions for improvement would be: 1) After night falls make the screen go completely black and then have an opening-your-eyes new day animation. 2) Move the directional choice signposts to the bottom of the screen so they don't block so much of the beautiful art. 3) Ensure the user never encounters the same picture twice in a row, which is very confusing (example: if you go North four times in a row, you get the same picture of the river twice back to back.) It's good, though. Lovely marriage of music and art; I especially love the witch's house. Did you make all of the art yourself during the Jam time? If so, amazing.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. And thank you for the feedback! The game definitely still needs some tweaking and we plan to work on it more, so your feedback is incredibly helpful! :) Making all the art during the jam would have been quite impressive, but the characters were actually made with a program called Mannequin and the backgrounds are from Freepik. We've put the credits in the game and on the game page.
