Yes, there are. A tailor will appear at the town center plaza when you have mastered at least four skills.
That was kinda confusing, as when I think of equipment, I thought you were talking about the 3 slots you can equip. I already found the tailor, but I didn't think that's what you meant with that description you put for it. I usually think it's like magical fake wings or something like that, but that might be me being spoiled by warframe, and others.
Edit Plus I was kinda wondering if by change of appearance you might be able to become a demon, angel, or elf through magical means. Those games are really cool to play through as they give true player freedom
If you mean Galiene then yes you can. You can go back to the ship at midnight and beat her in a fight to free her but surprisingly that doesn't move the story forward. You have to let her get possessed and wait a few days and check in at the guild hall.
(spoilers) After a few days everyone will get worried about Galiene and then the captain possessing her will return to town and let her stay as long as Galiene lets her possess her from time to time. Basically becoming like Nel and Celica.
